Story and Comments.: I had gone out to the cattle ranch that is right behind my house expecting to hunt my favorite blind that I have built there. But it had rained buckets the day before and my chair, which was only partially folded closed had about a 3" deep puddle of water in it. So I decided to hunt in another spot on a field about 200yds. behind me. I had a small 3 legged stool in a cut in some brush there and thought that I may see something later in the morning since they usually don't show up there until 10:00am. About 7:30 I saw some movement at the other end of the field about 350 yards away and glassed it. There were 2 does there but no bucks. I watched them for a while and then they went behind some brush and I lost sight of them. When I put down my binoculars I saw some movement off to my left. At first I thought that it was a coyote that I had been seeing in the area alot. But then a head rose up facing me and it was not the coyote. Instead there was a nice 8 point that I had only seen way off at the other end of the field. I waited for him to lower his head back behind the cactus and raised my rifle and eased off the safety. He heard the click from 60 yds. and raised his head back up to look. All I could see was from mid chest up and straight on eye to eye with him. I decided to make a neck shot which I almost never do since I mostly bow and blackpowder hunt. One shot straight in the center of the throat and down he went. I waited for a few minutes and watched through my scope and I could see that he was down so I got up and looked. He is not a B and C buck but he is the largest I have ever killed. Thanks to that wet chair, I guess I was meant to be where I was.
